Wine & Art Tour – 17 October 2013

Grapes-on-vineBob Baker exhibited a large collection of his recent paintings in Gruissan at the Phare du Sud, Poulet de Gruissan, Espace d’arte Contemporain from the 12th of October to November 10th 2013.

In conjunction with Wendy at Vin en Vacances, we had the Bob Baker Wine & Art Tour, available to residents of Caunes and friends of Bob on October 17th.

The day began at 10.00 with boarding one of the Vin en Vacances buses in Caunes and head to the La Clape wine district of Languedoc. The wines of La Clape were highly prized by the Romans who transported them back to Rome to be enjoyed there too. It was once an island, but during Romans times the waters receded and it was linked to the mainland as it is now. The tour began with a visit to one of the finest wineries in the region where we visited the vineyard and the winery followed by a tasting of their range of red and white wines. After this visit we headed for the old circulade town of Gruissan to see the salt pans and learn how the salt is harvested. We enjoyed a fabulous sea food lunch by the salt pans washed down with local wine. Then it was time to head to Bob’s exhibition to see his work and that of the other artists who also exhibited in the gallery.

The price of the tour was €75 which included the transport from Caunes, the wine tasting and the delicious seafood lunch with wine. Up to 16 places were available.

Bookings were made by September 15th by emailing: wendy@vinenvacances.com
